About Dr Naveed Younis

Dr. Naveed Younis is an award winning consultant in Endocrinology and Diabetes at the Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester. He possesses wide-ranging clinical experience in endocrinology combined with a high level of academic achievement.

He is the Endocrinology Clinical Lead for the Wythenshawe Endocrine Department and the Regional Training Programme Director in Endocrinology for higher specialist trainees in the North Western Deanery. Dr Younis is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester. He is an experienced Principal Investigator in conduct of a variety of Diabetes and Lipid Clinical Trials.

In recognition of the high standards required for medico-legal report writing and medico-legal witness testimony he has attained recognisable, certificated training through the Bond Solon (UK) Medico-Legal Training Centre for Expert Witness Services. Dr Younis has also achieved Faculty Status through the Academy of Experts.

Dr Younis, an Executive Member of the British Medical Association’s (BMA) Doctors in difficulty committee, speaks to fellow consultants on the legal, ethical and practical aspects of working as an Expert Witness. He has an ethical and transparent approach in meeting the needs of legal clients with legal advice, expert opinion and expert witness reports.

Currently, Dr. Younis is examining and researching treatment for lipid disorders and diabetic therapies including new form of insulin pump that continuously administers essential insulin to patients.

Clinical Research and Traditional Exams Move Hand in Hand. While in months of teaching and lectures gain substantial insight into patients’ needs, clinical research and patient examinations also play a central role in Dr. Younis’ work. In his work as a Principal Investigator, Dr. Younis and those assisting him take on various roles to coordinate and develop specific components of the research trials such as study slack, accountability for trial treatment, and orders for test and courses of action.

As Sub-Investigator, Dr. Younis focuses on assessing the health of those participating in the trials including conducting blood tests, checking blood pressure, heart rate, and temperature, as well as reporting noted side effects, complications that arise, lab test abnormalities, and filing reports to the FDA.

In his clinical medical practice, the Sub-Investigator functions as the patient’s doctor. In this role, a Sub-Investigator participates in counseling the patient overseeing drug requests, sends treatment orders, handles complications during the trial, and offers phone calls, prescription refills, and continuous therapy.
